In the autumn of 2017, when unmanned technologies in Kazakhstan were still perceived more as a vision of the future than as a practical tool for the economy, LLP “GEOSCAN-Kazakhstan” recognized their enormous potential. While others saw drones merely as devices for aerial filming, the company saw technologies capable of transforming geodesy, construction, industry, monitoring, and territorial digitalization.
It was from this bold, ambitious, and forward-looking idea that the story of a company began — one that has now become one of the leaders of Kazakhstan’s unmanned aviation industry.
From the very beginning, the company aimed not simply to provide aerial surveying services. Its goal was much broader: to create a full-fledged ecosystem of unmanned technologies in Kazakhstan.
Today, the group of companies объединяет several key areas:
LLP “GEOSCAN-Kazakhstan” performs aviation operations and services using unmanned aerial systems;
LLP “Drone Market Qanat” supplies equipment from leading global manufacturers;
LLP “Center of Competence for Unmanned Aerial Systems” trains specialists and develops the professional community of the emerging industry.
The company’s key distinguishing feature is its comprehensive approach. It does not simply supply drones — it creates an entire infrastructure: implementing technologies, supporting projects, training operators, assisting with aircraft registration, and participating in the improvement of industry legislation.
Over the years, the company has come an impressive way — from a regional project in the North Kazakhstan Region to a participant in major projects throughout Kazakhstan and beyond, including Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
Today, the group employs more than 25 highly qualified specialists: engineers, UAS pilots, surveyors, instructors, and photogrammetry experts. In recent years, the company’s revenue has grown more than fourfold, while its production capacity has increased more than five times.
GEOSCAN-Kazakhstan has become a pioneer in several areas simultaneously. The company implemented the largest projects for creating three-dimensional digital models of Kazakhstan’s cities, organized the country’s first drone show, conducted large-scale thermal imaging surveys in the city of Ekibastuz to assess the condition of heating networks, and trained dozens of unmanned aerial system operators.
Behind every achievement, however, stood extensive work and the overcoming of serious challenges. One of the major difficulties was the absence of a well-established legislative framework in the field of unmanned technologies. The company had not only to implement innovations but also to participate in shaping market regulations: addressing issues of flight legitimacy, equipment registration, and recognition of aerial survey results.
Another important challenge was proving to clients and government institutions that unmanned technologies could operate faster, more efficiently, and more economically than traditional methods.
A major boost to the company’s further growth came from the support of the Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund. GEOSCAN-Kazakhstan repeatedly received financial support under state entrepreneurship development programs. One of the key milestones was cooperation with JSC “Bank CenterCredit” under the “Business Roadmap – 2025” program, through which credit funds were attracted for working capital replenishment and investment purposes.
Thanks to the interest rate subsidization provided by the Damu Fund, financing conditions became significantly more affordable: the rate was reduced from 13.5% to 6%. This enabled the company to direct additional resources toward developing its material and technical base, expanding production capabilities, and implementing new projects.
In addition, under the program, the company received a guarantee from the Damu Fund, which significantly increased access to financing and strengthened the company’s potential for further business scaling.
In 2026, GEOSCAN-Kazakhstan received another form of state support — a guarantee from the Damu Fund under the “Guarantee Fund 1” program. Financing for working capital replenishment was provided through JSC “Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan,” ensuring the stability of the company’s operational activities and enabling the continuation of strategically important projects in the field of unmanned technologies.
It was precisely thanks to this state support that the company managed to establish one of Kazakhstan’s largest clusters for photogrammetric data processing, equipped with modern graphic servers and specialized software. This significantly increased the productivity of remote sensing data processing and brought the implementation of large-scale projects to an entirely new technological level.
Today, the group of companies covers almost the entire cycle of the unmanned industry: equipment supply, technology implementation, service support, specialist training, and execution of complex aviation operations. The next strategic stage is the launch of drone manufacturing in Kazakhstan in cooperation with international technology partners.
At the core of the company’s philosophy are principles that have remained unchanged since its founding: honesty toward clients, responsibility for results, and a reputation that is always more important than short-term profit.
