For many years, Kazakhstan’s medical apparel market remained heavily dependent on imported products. The majority of the market was supplied by foreign manufacturers, while domestic companies were represented by only a handful of local players. At the same time, the needs of the medical community were evolving: healthcare professionals increasingly sought apparel that combined modern design, comfort, functionality, and affordability while also addressing the specific requirements of the local market. This is the niche that the SULUMED brand successfully filled.
The company’s story did not begin with the launch of a garment manufacturing facility, but with a deep understanding of the industry. Until 2024, the team specialized in supplying medical apparel from Russia and the United States, working with both public and private healthcare institutions across Kazakhstan. This business model enabled the company not only to gain extensive knowledge of the global market but also to interact daily with end users—physicians, nurses, administrators, and healthcare executives.
Over time, it became clear that even high-quality imported products did not always meet the expectations of Kazakhstani healthcare professionals. The reasons varied, including garment fit, styles, fabric selection, pricing, and the lack of models tailored to the actual working conditions of medical personnel. Rather than searching for another foreign supplier, the company made a strategic decision to create its own brand. Thus, SULUMED was established—a Kazakhstani medical apparel brand designed specifically to meet the needs of the domestic market.
An important milestone in the company's development was receiving government support under the National Entrepreneurship Development Project for 2021–2025. As part of the project, SULUMED benefited from an interest rate subsidy program administered through the Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund. Financing was provided by Bereke Bank JSC (a subsidiary of Lesha Bank LLC (Public)). The attracted funding enabled the company to strengthen its production base, expand its manufacturing capacity, and continue developing domestic medical apparel production. The use of government support instruments became an additional factor contributing to the implementation of the company's import substitution strategy, the creation of new jobs, and the enhancement of the competitiveness of the Kazakhstani brand.
Another key area of development has been the establishment of the company's own manufacturing facilities. For SULUMED, this is not only an opportunity to maintain quality control at every stage of production but also a meaningful contribution to the development of Kazakhstan’s domestic manufacturing industry. The company consistently expands its production capacity, creates new jobs, and invests in the professional development of its employees. As a result, the growth of the brand goes hand in hand with the development of in-house manufacturing expertise within the country.
Today, SULUMED products are used in healthcare institutions throughout Kazakhstan. The company's clients include public hospitals, private clinics, diagnostic centers, and thousands of healthcare professionals who purchase uniforms for personal use. The company's growing customer base has been driven not by large-scale advertising campaigns but by a consistent commitment to product quality and continuous engagement with the professional medical community.
At the same time, SULUMED views growth as an ongoing process. Regularly updating collections, exploring innovative materials, improving manufacturing technologies, and adapting to the evolving demands of the market remain the company's strategic priorities. At the heart of this approach lies not only the product itself but also the understanding that the requirements for medical apparel continue to evolve alongside the healthcare system.
It is this philosophy that has enabled SULUMED to establish its own distinct identity. Today, the brand is evolving not merely as a manufacturer of medical apparel, but as an active contributor to shaping a new culture of professional medical uniforms in Kazakhstan—one that is modern, functional, and centered on the people who dedicate their lives to working in the healthcare system every day.
