Pavel Sergeyevich Shostak, General Director and founder of the «Stroitelny Dvor» store network, started his business in 2010.
At the beginning, he had only an idea, a modest amount of personal investment, and a strong desire to achieve results. The first building materials store was opened in Shchuchinsk, with a team of just two people.
The first customers were residents of his hometown. Their trust became the first and most important confirmation that the chosen direction was the right one and gave him the confidence to continue developing the business.
The first years were challenging. He had to search for customers, establish the store's operations, build the product range, launch advertising campaigns, and assemble a team — all at the same time. Sales grew gradually, but every mistake became valuable experience and helped him make more thoughtful and well-informed decisions.
«I have always believed that difficulties are part of the journey. If you do not stop, they make you stronger and help you make better decisions,» says Pavel Shostak.
Over the years, he progressed from handling daily operational tasks to becoming the head of the company. As a result, he knows the business not only through reports, but also through the day-to-day realities of warehouses, stores, and employees. Many of the principles that guide the company today were shaped by his own practical experience rather than by ready-made solutions.
One of Pavel Shostak's key principles is his attitude toward people. He believes that «a manager should not simply give orders, but create the conditions in which the team can achieve its best results.» That is why the company places great importance on each employee's responsibility for the overall result.
In 2020, the company received financial support from the «Damu» Fund in the form of subsidization. The funds were used for construction and to replenish working capital, which significantly accelerated the development of the business.Following the receipt of government support, the company increased its revenue, opened new branches, and created more than 30 new jobs. Today, the «Stroitelny Dvor» store network operates in three cities of Akmola Region — Shchuchinsk, Kokshetau, and Makinsk.Today, the company comprises five branches, employs a team of 150 people, and serves more than 100,000 customers annually. However, Pavel Shostak considers the company's greatest achievement to be more than just its quantitative indicators.
Over the years, the company has built a strong team, maintained the trust of its regular customers, and established reliable partnerships with suppliers. Employee turnover is practically nonexistent, and many employees have been working with the company for many years.
Another important principle of the company's development is not to rush expansion. Each new branch is opened only when the company is confident that it can provide the same high level of service as in its existing stores.
In the coming years, «Stroitelny Dvor» plans to open another branch and expand its range of building materials. The company's main goal is not simply to increase the scale of its business, but to become even more convenient and valuable for its customers.
Pavel Shostak always advises aspiring entrepreneurs to keep learning and developing: «Learn everywhere and all the time. New knowledge is the best investment in business development.»
And there is one more principle he has followed for many years:
«What does not kill you makes you stronger.»
