In 2019, Tatyana Lvovna Kim faced a personal challenge when her two-year-old son was diagnosed with autism. Realizing that her region lacked access to comprehensive support and qualified specialists for diagnosis, she decided to establish a specialized center herself. Her goal was not only to help her own son, but also to support other children and their families.

What began as a small family initiative of a mother of a child with special needs quickly grew into a systematic and large-scale business.

A major milestone in the development of the business was the expansion of its structure into a network of specialized services under the common brand “Zhas Urpaq Aktobe”, as well as attracting external financing to support further growth.

Today, four specialized centers operate successfully: Jas Urpaq Kids (early development), Jas Urpaq Junior (school preparation and work with teenagers), Jas Urpaq Group, and Jas Urpaq Eventum.

The Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund supported the opening of a new center. As part of the National Entrepreneurship Development Project, the business received an affordable loan from Bank CenterCredit.

One of the key challenges in this sector is the shortage of qualified professionals. To address this issue, Tatyana Kim established her own professional training and certification system for employees, involving international experts, including specialists from Poland.

The company’s growth is clearly reflected in the size of its team: at the very beginning, only 7 employees were involved in the project, while today the company employs 60 people.

The uniqueness of the centers lies in their comprehensive and continuous approach. The project does not simply provide individual services; it creates a complete support ecosystem for children and teenagers with developmental and mental health-related needs — from early development to pre-vocational training and socialization.

The centers provide a full range of evidence-based methods and services in one place, including ABA therapy, sensory integration, neurocorrection, therapeutic physical training, and sessions with speech therapists, special education teachers, and psychologists. International experts, including specialists from Germany, are also regularly invited to review and audit the methods used by the centers.

Over the next 1–2 years, the company plans to reach full operational capacity, providing services to up to 60 children per month, develop vocational workshops, including urban farming, strengthen the Urpaq Inclusive Foundation, and further develop a system that will enable children with special needs to become as independent as possible in adult life.

Tatyana Kim’s main message to other entrepreneurs is: “A social business flourishes when genuine desire to help people stands behind sound financial calculations.”
